Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea
In life, it's impossible to be everyone's cup of tea—and that's okay. So often, we get caught up in the desire to please others, constantly adjusting ourselves to fit their expectations. Here’s the thing: most of us spend way too much time trying to please people. We say yes when we mean no, smile when we’re dying inside, and pretend to like things we wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole. Why? Because we think everyone’s opinion matters. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. You can’t control what others think or say, and frankly, why bother?
The pressure to be liked by everyone is exhausting. But here’s where it gets good: Jesus never asked you to be everyone’s favorite. He didn’t say, “Go into the world and make everyone love you.” In fact, He kind of expects you to be a little bit of an acquired taste. In Matthew 11:28, He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Translation: stop trying so hard to make everyone happy and just rest in the fact that you are loved exactly as you are.
So the next time someone tries to push you into their idea of what you should be, just remember: you’re not their cup of tea, and you were never meant to be. Maybe you’re more like a strong espresso—bold, distinct, and definitely not for everyone. And that's the kind of energy you need to embrace.
Let it go, let it be, and let Jesus handle the rest. After all, He’s already your biggest fan. Who cares if everyone else isn’t sipping your flavor?
